JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an exceptional, highly qualified individual for the role of BID Manager for the Stratford-upon-Avon Business Improvement District (BID). The successful candidate will be tasked with organising, implementing and project managing the projects and initiatives outlined in the recently approved BID Business Plan 2024-2029 available to view at: https://stratforduponavonbid.co.uk/business-plan/


JOB SUMMARY
  • Lead and manage the Stratford-upon-Avon BID company.
  • Lead and manage the operational delivery of the BID projects, contracts and initiatives outlined within the Stratford-upon-Avon BID Business Plan 2024-2029.
  • Manage staff and contractors.
  • Ensure regular liaison and communication with 382 BID levy payers (local businesses).
  • Ensure regular engagement with Councils and other stakeholder groups.
  • Manage the procurement of services as required.
  • Report to the BID Board of directors.
  • Liaise with the District Council regarding BID levy collection.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the day-to-day operations and activities of the Stratford-upon-Avon BID in accordance with the new five-year business plan 2024-2029.
  • Work closely with the BID Board and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of BID projects and initiatives.
  • Act as a key point of contact for the 382 BID levy payers (local businesses) within the BID boundary, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, organisations, and the community.
  • Monitor the performance and impact of BID projects and initiatives, reporting on key metrics and outcomes to businesses, stakeholders and the BID Board.
  • Manage the BID budget effectively, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately to meet the objectives of the BID business plan.
  • Represent the BID at external events, meetings, and conferences to raise awareness and promote the interests of the BID and local businesses.
  • Manage the organisation and delivery of key projects and contracts such as the annual Food Festival, Motor Festival and Christmas Lights Switch on Event.
  • Co-ordinate and manage marketing (including BID social media platforms, website and newsletter), promotional and associated events to ensure that the town centre is promoted appropriately.
  • Work in partnership to develop and help implement projects and activities relating to the town centre as agreed with the appropriate public agencies and react as appropriate to issues that may affect local businesses and the town centre.
  • Take on additional tasks as directed by the BID Board

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • A passion for community development, economic revitalisation, and making a positive impact on a local area.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and partners.
  • Knowledge of BID operations, local government, and economic development practices.
  • Minimum five years management and leadership related experience (not for profit experience an advantage).
  • Project and budget management experience.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with local businesses, stakeholders, local authorities and Boards.
  • Knowledge of both public and private sector activities in town centres.
  • Ability to analyse problems and adopt an innovative approach to finding solutions.
  • Ability to develop effective work plans, organise details, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences, including ability to write clear and concise reports and presentations.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse set of partners.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • An ability to prioritise and remain focused; to organise workloads of self and others with no daily supervision.
  • Entrepreneurial in nature and with confidence to develop and push forward plans and projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise in a dynamic work environment.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint), databases / CRM systems and social media platforms.

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

DESIRABLE

  • BID Manager / Town Centre Manager / Place Manager / Shopping Centre Manager / experience.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership building.
  • Experience of delivering events and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in dealing with the media and press.
  • Experience in marketing and brand management.
  • Experience in preparing agenda packs for Board meetings and taking minutes.
  • Knowledge and experience of the issues affecting town centres including retail, hospitality, leisure, office, public sectors.
  • Ability to effectively present a business case to key stakeholders for recommending changes.
  • Excellent knowledge of the local area.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in business, marketing, planning, or a related field is desirable.

REPORTING TO

Stratford-upon-Avon BID Board of Directors.

SALARY

£50,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

HOURS OF WORK

Full time based on 40 hours per week. Hours will be flexible to support weekend events and evening meetings.

HOLIDAYS

20 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

PENSION AND SICKNESS PAY

Statutory.

PERIOD OF CONTRACT

This is a permanent position until the end of the new BID term on 31st March 2029. The role will be renewed for a further 5-years subject to a successful BID ballot in 2029.

PROBATION PERIOD

Permanent employment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a 6-month probationary period.

  • Direct and deliver £1.9million of investment in the BID area during the 5 years of the BID.

  • Deliver the projects and initiatives outlined under the two themes detailed in the BID Business Plan:
    1. Celebrate, Promote & Activate
    2. Communicate, Support & Represent
  • Increase footfall and raise the towns profile through enhanced and targeted marketing, year-round events and promotions.
  • Improve the visitor and shopper experience and perceptions of the town by helping deliver a safe, vibrant and welcoming BID area, day and night.
