Employer: Andover Town Centre BID Limited.
Reporting to: Andover BID Manager
Duration: Fixed term, until 31/03/2029 (Probationary period of three months). Possible extension beyond this point, subject to a successful renewal ballot.
Hours of work: Based on 20 hours per week with regular flexible working required, to include evening, weekend and occasional bank holidays to meet the requirements of the BID.
Holidays: To be proportionally allocated based on full-time (37.5 hour) equivalent of 25 days per year, plus 8 days for public holidays.
Salary: £13,333 per annum (which is a full-time equivalent of approximately £25k), with eligibility for a contributory pension following the probationary period.

Purpose of the Role

The Andover Business Improvement District (BID) is a not-for-profit organisation and works with over 240 town centre business members to improve the environment and provide additionality in the town.  A role has been established to support the BID manager in delivering key initiatives that enhance the town’s business environment.  Your role will be to carry out administrative duties including answering the phone, monitoring emails, arranging meetings, maintaining the CRM database, keeping accurate records, getting involved in planning and assisting at events, trails and other initiatives and overseeing regular members bulletins and newsletters as well as updating the website.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regularly monitor and respond to numerous email accounts/Facebook & Instagram messages.
  • Manage regular website updates, businesses information and event updates.
  • Posting and sharing regular social media posts across all channels.
  • Maintaining the CRM database, keeping accurate records.
  • Help create and distribute regular business e-newsletters.
  • Working with other members of the team to support with promotional initiatives, local offers, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Regular surveying of businesses to understand requirements
  • Attend Board Meetings to take minutes and then distribute after and follow up on actions.
  • Help to support Pubwatch, Shopwatch, Radio Link and the DISC system including communication and coordination with members. 
  • Support the BID Manager to ensure the success of Andover BID and seek innovative and collaborative ways to enhance the impact of the BID to the town. 
Person Specification

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience of a customer/service-related role to engage with businesses and stakeholders effectively.
  • An outgoing personality with a ‘can do’ and flexible attitude. 
  • Highly organised, efficient and adaptable. 
  • Experience of IT including Office, Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • A proactive and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Confident to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Excellent time management and ability to work effectively under pressure with ability to prioritise the many different aspects of a BID. 

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience of project and budget management. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of BIDs and challenges/opportunities for town centres.
  • Experience working with Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) or town centre initiatives.
  • Experience of Website management
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva.
  • Knowledge and understanding of membership organisations. 
  • Event planning experience.
  • A current basic first aid certificate. 
  • A car driver.
