Professional Development Day 29th September 2020

Due to COVID-19, this event has been postponed to 29th September (originally 23rd April). If you have booked this event and have any queries, please get in touch.

Join us on 29th September at the Professional Development Day

Location: Copthorne Hotel, Birmingham

Price: £99 for British BIDs members and £125 for non-members.

The Professional Development Day offers a networking opportunity for those working the BID industry. In light of current circumstances, an updated agenda will heavily focus on support mechanisms for BIDs and communities recovering from Coronavirus.

This April we are in Birmingham, a vibrant business community with five BIDs in the heart of the City. With insights from the local political, business and cultural community talking about how BIDs can and have made a difference. Previous day’s in Bristol and Watford have been hugely popular so securing your place early is recommended.

Achieving Online Engagement – Will Wright

This session will reflect on what online engagement really means, why you should care about trying to achieve it, how you go about measuring it and getting it to happen more regularly, and most importantly of all the effect it will have on your destination.

The session will include practical examples alongside a few top tips which you can take back to your BID and begin implementing the very next day.

This year’s Professional Development Day is being sponsored by civic floral display specialist Plantscape, who supply dazzling displays to BIDs and councils across the UK.

Some of the UK’s finest historic walled cities and tourist hotspots have seen Plantscape add extra colour to their already attractive streets – York and Chester among them.

They have helped a number of towns win coveted In Bloom awards, helped increase visitor footfall, played a part in reducing anti-social behaviour, assisted with traffic calming and made residents and visitors feel happier through the power of flowers.

As well as offering stunning summer floral displays, created in its seven-day watering hanging baskets, lamp post planters, barrier baskets and flower towers, it also creates autumn, winter and spring planters and has just introduced a new bee-friendly range.
