The Big Heart of Merthyr Tydfil BID and Northfield BID achieve Accreditation

We are pleased to congratulate The Big Heart of Merthyr Tydfil BID in Wales and Northfield BID in Birmingham on receiving British BIDs Accreditation.

Both BIDs have achieved the industry recognised standard, externally assessed by independent auditors.

Chris Turner, CEO of British BIDs said “I wish to congratulate both BIDs who have demonstrated their commitment to good governance, financial management and communications. Their award proves that smaller BIDs are just as able to implement robust systems and procedures that in turn, provide reassurances to their stakeholders. It’s particularly impressive how both BIDs have listened to their levy payers and adapted their services to meet the needs of their businesses, important in these challenging times".

The accreditation process is rigorous in assessing each element of operations within a BID including an independent evaluation of governance, staff operations, financial management, communications and performance management. BIDs are assessed in line with the National BID Criteria and National Guiding Principles for a BID

Marcia Greenwood, Northfield Town Centre BID Manager said "Our Board has always been keen to apply for Accreditation and hence we are delighted that Northfield BID has been recognised as being well-managed and operated. As we start to campaign for our third BID term, the accreditation gives us the confidence and reassurance to our BID levy payers that the BID has the appropriate governance and quality assurance systems in place”.

Elizabeth Bedford, BID Manager at The Big Heart of Merthyr Tydfil BID said, "Accreditation has given the Merthyr Tydfil BID a welcome rubber stamp of approval and provides our levy payers with the confidence they are getting value for money, with good governance and transparency. The process drew attention to our strengths as well as highlighting areas where improvements can be made. The support from the British BIDs team throughout the process was first class".

British BIDs have been leading the BID industry for 10 years, with the Accreditation process and award becoming increasingly popular with BIDs.
