Can your BID assist school/college leavers in their area to obtain employment locally?

The Careers & Enterprise Company is a government funded company, fully funded by Dept of Education, which aims to connect education and businesses together.

The goal is to make it easier for employers to inspire and prepare young people for the fast-changing world of work.

How BIDs can get involved?

BIDs who are interested can assist school/college leavers in their area to obtain employment locally. This is a countrywide programme.

BIDs are well placed to provide the vehicle to match business mentors with schools/colleges to plan strategically what skills are needed to support employees in local areas. To launch this initiative in your BID area, simply work with your businesses and local communities to organise this mentoring scheme.

  • Host workshops with BID businesses and local schools
  • Digitally communicate the benefits to businesses to actively participate in mentoring schemes
  • Help find business advocates and put them in touch with councils to give keynote speeches in schools
  • Organise for your BID to have a stand at University Freshers Fairs
  • Create printed literature to circulate the benefits to your BID businesses
