British BIDs (Bb) is excited to announce a partnership with the Welsh Government to undertake its industry recognised Accreditation service for seven BIDs in Wales. These BIDs include Newport Now, Neath Inspired, Rhyl BID, FOR Cardiff, Your Pontypridd, Caernarfon BID and Merthyr Tydfil BID.
British BIDs have been leading the BID industry for 10 years, with the Accreditation process and award becoming increasingly popular with BIDs. The process provides BIDs with an independent evaluation of its governance, management systems, finances, communications and more. All to help BIDs run efficiently and correctly and assessed in line with the National BID Criteria and National Guiding Principles for a BID.
Deputy Minister for Housing and Local Government, Hannah Blythyn said “The Welsh Government wants to Transform Towns across Wales, making them fit for the 21st century. BIDs play a significant role in regenerating areas by providing businesses with a collective single voice, supporting economic growth and strengthening communities. There are many examples of BIDs having strategic objectives in relation to managing local high streets and town centres, and a proven track record of driving real change in declining areas.
I’m really pleased the Welsh Government is supporting BID Accreditation in partnership with British BIDs. This demonstrates our commitment to investing in BIDs across Wales.”
Since its inception, British BIDs have seen 34 BIDs undertake the Accreditation process. In addition to the Welsh BIDs, both Uxbridge BID and Northfield BID have commenced the Accreditation process this month. Mike Crane, Uxbridge BID Manager said "The Uxbridge Directors are particularly keen that we go through the Accreditation process to achieve a positive endorsement for the work that we are delivering. Once achieved, it will provide our stakeholders with further confidence in their BID and be a good opportunity for us as a BID to re-evaluate our systems.”
Chris Turner, CEO of British BIDs said “With the number of BIDs increasing, stakeholder businesses are quite rightly scrutinising BIDs more closely than ever. Our Accreditation process continues to grow in popularity due to the fact that well-run BIDs are keen to provide reassurances to their stakeholders that they are a well-run and governed operation.”
