British BIDs congratulates Melanie Beck, CEO of MyMiltonKeynes on being awarded MBE for ‘Services to the Community’ during Covid-19

We are thrilled to see that Melanie Beck; CEO of My Milton Keynes has been awarded MBE. Melanie has been instrumental in making positive improvements and promoting Central Milton Keynes for more than two decades and it is great to see Melanie receive special recognition from Her Majesty the Queen in the 2020 Birthday Honours list.

The award specifically recognises Melanie’s contribution to the community during COVID-19, the worlds most challenging period, where she offered MyMiltonKeynes’ resources to those in need. Melanie also helped with a nationwide call from the NHS for more PPE, where MyMiltonKeynes teamed up with a local volunteer and helped deliver to hospitals in the area and other surgeries and clinics in need.

Commenting on the award, Melanie Beck said “I am both honoured and bewildered on being given the MBE for services to the community of Milton Keynes during Covid-19. It shows the importance of BIDs in our towns and cities in providing solutions to enhance the place but the flexibility to adapt our businesses to provide support when and where needed.”

MyMiltonKeynes was established in 2017 is one of the largest BIDs outside of London. The BID generates over £6million across 5 years, enabling MyMiltonKeynes to deliver improvements to make the city centre safer, cleaner, connected, smart and vibrant and able to quickly adapt in these challenging times. The BID is one of the largest BIDs outside of London.
