Finding the right balance for our town and city centres
Our town and city centres are facing an economic disaster.
There are over 320 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in the UK who are trying to find the balance between doing the right thing for businesses, and the right thing by Government advice.
The British BIDs Advisory Board has been working hard to guide the industry through this uncertainty.
Ruth Duston OBE represents a number of London BIDs, and has written to the Prime Minister to ask for further support for Central London. Calling for flexibility for businesses to return staff to offices is crucial for London economy and work of BIDs.

The implications of abolishing Tax-Free Shopping
From 2021, the Treasury is considering abolishing Tax-Free Shopping.
For our tourism and employment sector, Tax-Free Shopping plays a crucial role. Without it, 138,000 jobs are at risk, and almost 5 million fewer tourists who visit the UK for this service.
Jace Tyrrell, Chief Executive at New West End Company has been heavily involved in these impacts and New West End Company will be meeting with the Chancellor in the coming weeks to raise the issue.
